Impacts of arts and humanities programs at ecological field stations

The goal of this research project is to answer questions about the measurable outcomes and mutual impacts of arts and humanities programs at long term ecological research stations (LTERs) and field stations and marine labs (FSMLs). For example, how does engaging with art-making or art programs impact researchers, students, and scientific institutions? Conversely, how does interaction with place-based field research and science education impact artists and their work? There is already a small but growing body of literature at this intersection, however, there is a need for more quantitative assessment of the outcomes of these art-science partnerships as well as the impact on the artists themselves.
